Cancer Researchers to Watch - An Early Career Showcase

The Early Career Showcase in Lisbon at EACR 2025 will take place on 15-16 June and is designed to provide a platform for the next wave of cancer researchers, focusing on fostering excellence, gender balance and geographic diversity within the European cancer research community. Organised by and for early-career researchers, this 2-day symposium will include 8 invited talks and 8 early-career speakers selected from abstracts submitted to the EACR 2025 Congress.

The objective of the symposium is to provide a unique scenario for early-career researchers to present their work, discuss cutting-edge ideas and methods, as well as to build a collaborative and interactive community with their peers. This event will integrate a wide array of research topics within cancer research in a relaxed environment, by promoting networking, exchange of scientific ideas and participant engagement. The scientific programme will be complemented by a panel discussion with the EACR’s Early Career Researchers Council and a social event.

In order to be eligible to register for this event, you must register for the EACR Congress by the early rate registration deadline: 28 April 2025. Registration will open in January 2025.

Attendance will be capped at a maximum of 150 participants, in order to encourage active engagement and interaction among participants. Registrations will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

Target audience and how to register

The programme is tailored for early career researchers wishing to know more about the leading-edge research performed by their peers in the EACR community. 

Only EACR student and early-career members who registered for the EACR Congress by the early rate registration deadline (28 April 2025) are eligible to attend the Early Career Showcase. All eligible participants will receive in the first week of May an email invitation to register to join the early career showcase. 

Topics

In a departure from traditional conference formats, the sessions will not be organised around predefined themes. This approach is designed to facilitate a broader scope of discussion, integrating a wide array of topics within cancer research. Some of the topics that will be covered are listed below. However, all EACR student and early-career members who are planning on attending the EACR 2025 Congress are welcome at the early career showcase, regardless of their topic of research.
